As the world seemingly becomes a smaller place, citizen diplomacy has taken on a larger role in international relations. Sister Cities International is an organization which fosters relationships based on cultural, educational, information and trade exchanges, creating lifelong friendships that encourage prosperity and peace through person-to-person interaction.
In this presentation, leadership from Sanford’s Sister City program will share information about the goals and objectives of local Sister City exchanges and discuss Sanford’s existing relationship with Yixing, China – and the exploration of a brand new affiliation with a potential Sister City in Mexico. You’ll hear how you can get involved in the local effort and how to support upcoming cultural exchanges. Speakers include Jan Hayes and Kevin Brown – the chairman and vice chairman of Sanford’s Sister City Committee – as well as Mayor Chet Mann and others.
The luncheon will begin at 11:45 am at The Flame Steakhouse. Tickets for this event are on a first come, first serve basis and can be purchased online or by calling the office at 919.775.7341. Tickets are $15 for Chamber Members and $20 for Non-Chamber Members.
