The Sanford Area Growth Alliance is excited to announce the upcoming Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy Luncheon. The topic this month is the Sanford Building Integrated Communities (BIC) Project.
Dr. Hannah Gill and Jessica White, MPH from the Latino Migration Project at UNC-Chapel Hill will share about this ongoing, multi-sectoral Sanford BIC project to enhance immigrant integration in Sanford and Lee County. Gill and White will (1) review the collaborative process and findings of the BIC Hispanic/Latino community assessment completed in 2015 and (2) provide an update on current action planning/implementation to address priority issues identified in the areas of government-community communications, public transportation, and police relationships. They will also be able to discuss assessment results regarding local employment and related issues of public transportation and educational attainment.
As a part of this presentation, Zaida Cruz and Sidney “Sid” Morgan from the County of Lee Transit System (COLTS) will discuss current and upcoming improvements to public transportation.
The luncheon will begin at 11:45 am at The Flame Steakhouse. Tickets for this event are on a first come, first serve basis and can be purchased online or by calling the office at 919.775.7341. Tickets are $15 for Chamber Members and $20 for Non-Chamber Members.
