Description

Sanford Block Party will spruce up the area around W.B. Wicker School, including sections of Price Street, Dudley Avenue, Saunders Street, Oddfellow Street, and S. Vance Street.

Led by host churches Jonesboro UMC and St. Mark COG, elected officials, municipal staff, civic groups, and other volunteers will spend the day providing landscaping, light painting, and light construction where needed.

The Sanford Block Party will begin at 8:00 a.m. with registration and free breakfast. Lunch and entertainment will be provided around 1:00 p.m. Most work assignments will be completed by 2:00 p.m.

Anyone is welcome to volunteer, whether as an individual or with a group. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own tools, including rakes, shovels, painting tools, lawn mowers, weed eaters, gloves, etc.

This is the 8th annual Sanford Block Party. Previous clean-ups were on Charlotte Avenue, McIver Street, Maple Avenue, Hawkins Avenue, Steele Street, Woodland Avenue, and McIntosh Street.

Currently, the committee is seeking donations to help with food, entertainment, and supplies. To donate or volunteer, contact Karen Kennedy at 919-718-4657 ext. 5391.
